more song lyrics - this time, very very indie "Big, Like Me" by J Goodin I lost my will today. I have let it slide/ and now it's back to punish me. The flesh he needs is a false reality. It's a hoax for all to see. Well pig for prosperity/ I'm cold inside. No one else will ever see/ what's left of me. So I'm half again at best. And the pigs they never rest. When you've fallen farther from your shore/ I won't come around here no more. And all I have/ are a few swift kicks to my head. Well, everyone look at me, I am big inside/ and none of you will ever be/ Big, like me. This dim humanity/ so it's all I let you see. And with everyone wanting more/ I feel my life's become a whore. All I have/ are a few swift kicks to my head. All I have/ are a few swift kicks to my head. All I have/ are a few swift kicks to my head. All I have/ are a few swift kicks to my head. To my head... *Live version only - 4/19 **************** *In the vein of "The Wall" by Pink Floyd * I don't need no drugs to calm me. I don't need your arms around me. I have seen the writing on the Wall. And I don't think I need anything at all. No, don't think I need anything at all. All in all it was all just Bricks in The Wall. And all in all the world was all just Bricks in The Wall. **** All I have/ are a few swift kicks to my head. All I have/ are a few swift kicks to my head. All I have/ are a few swift kicks to my head. All I have/ are a few swift kicks to my head. To my head... Current Mood: contemplative | | Tuesday, May 2nd, 2006 | | 4:31 pm |
new favorite song title
Just a quick note to say my new favorite song title is from Fall Out Boy's "From Under the Cork Tree" album. The song title is: "I've Got A Dark Alley And A Bad Idea That Says You Should Shut Your Mouth" That is all. | | Tuesday, October 18th, 2005 | | 9:46 am |
Alan Parsons Project - The Raven
For some reason I've been hearing/thinking of this song a lot recently. I'm a huge Poe fan so, not entirely surprising. I developed a severe case of enjoyment for Alan Parsons there for a while in college. Anyway, here's more lyrics: "And still the Raven/ Remains in my room/ No matter how much I implore. No words can soothe him/ No prayer remove him/ and I must hear forevermore..." Current Mood: okay | | Wednesday, June 15th, 2005 | | 9:55 am |
more lyrics
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach... So, you get what we had here last week, Which is the way he wants it! Well, he gets it! N' I don't like it any more than you men. Look at your young men fighting Look at your women crying Look at your young men dying The way they've always done before Look at the hate we're breeding Look at the fear we're feeding Look at the lives we're leading The way we've always done before My hands are tied The billions shift from side to side And the wars go on with brainwashed pride For the love of God and our human rights And all these things are swept aside By bloody hands time can't deny And are washed away by your genocide And history hides the lies of our civil wars D'you wear a black armband When they shot the man Who said "Peace could last forever" And in my first memories They shot Kennedy I went numb when I learned to see So I never fell for Vietnam We got the wall of D.C. to remind us all That you can't trust freedom When it's not in your hands When everybody's fightin' For their promised land And I don't need your civil war It feeds the rich while it buries the poor Your power hungry sellin' soldiers In a human grocery store Ain't that fresh I don't need your civil war Look at the shoes your filling Look at the blood we're spilling Look at the world we're killing The way we've always done before Look in the doubt we've wallowed Look at the leaders we've followed Look at the lies we've swallowed And I don't want to hear no more My hands are tied For all I've seen has changed my mind But still the wars go on as the years go by With no love of God or human rights 'Cause all these dreams are swept aside By bloody hands of the hypnotized Who carry the cross of homicide And history bears the scars of our civil wars We practice selective annihilation Of mayors and government officials For example to create a vacuum Then we fill that vacuum As popular war advances Peace is closer I don't need your civil war It feeds the rich while it buries the poor Your power hungry sellin' soldiers In a human grocery store Ain't that fresh And I don't need your civil war I don't need your civil war I don't need your civil war Your power hungry sellin' soldiers In a human grocery store Ain't that fresh I don't need your civil war I don't need one more war I don't need one more war What's so civil 'bout war anyway | | Tuesday, June 14th, 2005 | | 11:21 am |

you guys are probably getting tired of quizzes and lyrics...
...but this song is perfect for how I feel today: GREEN DAY LYRICS "Holiday" Hear the sound of the falling rain Coming down like an Armageddon flame (Hey!) The shame The ones who died without a name Hear the dogs howling out of key To a hymn called "Faith and Misery" (Hey!) And bleed, the company lost the war today I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives On holiday Hear the drum pounding out of time Another protestor has crossed the line (Hey!) To find, the money's on the other side Can I get another Amen? (Amen!) There's a flag wrapped around a score of men (Hey!) A gag, A plastic bag on a monument I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives On holiday "The representative from California has the floor" Zieg Heil to the president gasman Bombs away is your punishment Pulverize the Eiffel towers Who criticize your government Bang bang goes the broken glass and Kill all the fags that don't agree Trials by fire, setting fire Is not a way that's meant for me Just cause, just cause, because we're outlaws yeah! I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives I beg to dream and differ from the hollow lies This is the dawning of the rest of our lives This is our lives on holiday Current Mood: awakeCurrent Music: take a guess | | Friday, April 29th, 2005 | | 3:14 pm |
elemental quiz - seems pretty accurate
Tornado ~ 70% Water ~ 62% Wind ~ 62% Earth ~ 74% Fire ~ I had my chance, I took a risk I asked the wind to dance Your colours are the deep green of the sea, and its exact opposite, the fiery red. You are likely emotional, romantic, passionate and have a hot temper. This makes you one impulsive individual. You could try wearing a Hematite; it enhances focus, balance and stability and thus brings you a bit closer to harmony. In detail: Your Heart Chakra, which is associated with the element of water and represents our sense of love and compassion, and your Ground Chakra, which is associated with the element of fire and represents our basic desires and driving force, are predominant. Your Throat Chakra, which is associated with the element of wind and represents our desire to learn and communicate, and your Creative Chakra, which is associated with the element of earth and represents our need to preserve and grow, are not quite as prominent. My test tracked 4 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender: You scored higher than 85% on water You scored higher than 16% on wind You scored higher than 58% on earth You scored higher than 77% on fire The Elemental Balance Test http://www.okcupid.com/tests/take?testid=5009339405940095754 | | Thursday, March 24th, 2005 | | 2:20 pm |
My response to the Schiavo debacle
Well I ain't afraid of dyin',It's the though of being dead. I wanna go on being me once my eulogy's been read. Don't spread my ashes out to sea, don't lay me down to rest. You can put my mind to ease if you fill my last request. Prop me up beside the jukebox when I die. Lord I wanna go to heaven but I don't wanna go tonight. Fill my boots up with sand; put a stiff drink in my hand. Prop me up beside the jukebox when I die. Just let my headstone be a neon sign. Just let it burn in memory of all of my good times. Fix me up with a mannequin; Just remember, I like blondes. I'll be the life of the party even when I'm dead and gone. Prop me up beside the jukebox when I die Lord I wanna go to heaven but I don't wanna go tonight Fill my boots up with sand; put a stiff drink in my hand. Prop me up beside the jukebox when I die. Just make your next selection and while your still in line. You can pay you last respects one quarter at a time. Oh prop me up beside the jukebox when I die. -Joe Diffie, "Prop Me Up Beside the Jukebox" In case this isn't clear enough; I'd rather be dead than undead. another quiz You are 'juggling'. Jugglers, tumblers, and other street performers were a very popular sort of entertainment once, before movies and talkies and online quizzes supplanted them. You like to put on a show for people, and they like to watch. You are friendly and well-liked, particularly for your sense of humor, although you sometimes play with people's heads. You are frequently the center of attention, and you like it that way. However, you have to realize that the world does not revolve around you. Furthermore, you have to learn that your light-hearted antics are not appropriate to all situations. Your problem is that juggling has been obsolete for a long time. I think this pretty much sums up my opinion...
I'm currently emroiled in an inane debate with a co-worker. He's a staunch Bushista; I'm a political moderate (some might say progressive but I hesitate on that due to my redneck upbringing). In other words, I'd kill to have McCain in office. Anyway, here's the text of my most recent email reply. The context of the conversation at this point is *trust* of a candidate for president: When looking into the Federal Reserve system, one has to ask: what made it possible? How was a nation induced into essentially enslaving itself to private interest? To answer that question, I give another question: Who was Philander Knox? http://www.worldnewsstand.net/history/PhilanderKnox.htmMy favorite quote is: "After McKinley's assassination in 1901, Knox continued as Attorney General under Theodore Roosevelt. Even though Roosevelt labeled himself as a "trust-buster," Knox saw to it that very little harm came to his benefactors. U.S. Steel was unscathed, and most of the actions that were taken against the railroad companies were largely done with the urging of the railroad giants themselves, who were the strongest advocates of federal regulation of the industry, because that regulation, with their own agents working in the federal commissions, enabled them to gain greater control over the industry, be protected from competition, and maintain prices. " Now, I've done no fact checking on this article, but I don't feel the bits about Knox are incredibly far-fetched. He was Attorney General at those times and was also a counsel to Morgan and Carnegie. In other words, I don't know if that's how it went, but I wouldn't be surprised. In any even, you might ask what my point is. My point is, very simply, that nothing that we are shown is *really* what's going on. Ever. The power of a politician is inherently linked to how well his secrets are kept, based on the image he puts forth. I could never *trust* any politician or even his position, simply because of this prime example (the Federal Reserve) of how power is derived. IMO, what this creates, even among people who don't do any research at all, is the feeling that we have to vote for whatever helps *me* the most *right now*. The current power structure is based on who can manipulate people's immediate opinion the best, thus making them feel as good as possible *right now*. Because of this short-term focus, I think the US has crippled itself as a nation. A major reason scientists the world over cringed when Bush won this year is that he's consistently shown himself to be an enemy of true technological advancement. He paints academia as "ivory-tower liberals" to galvanize opinion about them because binary opinions are controllable. Still, based on evidence given by his actions, he supports the things he supports for his own political gain. Certain lines of research have been shut down and made ineffective under Bush for nothing more than that reason. Making himself look "more devout" is a benefit, and thus a political asset. I know this is a bit of "correlation is causation", but it's how I see the situation, which is what you seemed interested in. In the end, I think it's a shame that the upward momentum of the human race is being slowed for temporal power. To me, that's the extreme irony of a president who claims to be devoutly christian. The Bible teaches "It's easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter Heaven." Riches don't have to be in the form of money. One of the Robber Barons of Morgan's time (I think it was Rockefeller) is quoted, "I want to own nothing and control everything." Those are the people who *make* presidents and then give them their power. Can you trust that? Current Mood: distractedCurrent Music: nirvana - in bloom | | Tuesday, November 30th, 2004 | | 9:20 am |

from Reuters today
"Attorney General John Ashcroft and Commerce Secretary Donald Evans resigned in a post-election shake-up of President Bush's Cabinet, the White House announced on Tuesday." And I checked, it's not April Fool's Day. Of course, this makes me wonder who on Earth could top Ashcroft. | | Thursday, October 14th, 2004 | | 9:46 am |

Friday Five
A main hub of the Friday Five can be found at aclipscomb.blogspot.com. This week's question is from the owner of the above-mentioned blog, Adam: What are your 5 favorite lines from any song? Not the song itself, but specific lyrics that you dig, and find yourself repeating in your head. I don't think it's really safe to pick 5, as anything said or seen or done in a day is generally soundtracked by some insane composer in my head. I imagine that part of my personality/intellect as this mad-eyed Beethoven-looking fellow with a megaphone and God's own talent for mimicry. With no more ado, here we go: 1. Velvet Revolver - "Slither" "Yeah, here comes the water/ it comes to wash away the sins of you and I. Yeah, like Holy Water/ it only burns you faster than you'll ever dry." Took me forever to figure out what he was saying, but it was worth it. 2. Brad Paisley - "Little Moments" "And when she's laying on my shoulder, on the sofa in the dark/ and about the time she falls asleep, so does my right arm. And I want so bad to move it, 'cause it's tingling and it's numb/ But, she looks so much like an angel, that I don't wanna wake her up." Yeah, I live for little moments like that. Preach on, Brotha Paisley. 2. Coldplay - "The Scientist" "I was just guessing at numbers and figures/ Pulling the puzzles apart. Questions of Science, science and progress/ cannot speak as loud as my heart." The whole damn song haunts me on that one, really. 4. Old 97's - "Barrier Reef" "Saw her sittin' at the bar, and you know how some girls are/ always making eyes? Well, she wasn't making eyes. So, I sidled up beside her, settled down, and shouted "Hi there! My name's Stewart Ransom Miller, and I'm a serial lady killer." And, she said, "I'm already dead." That's exactly what she said. Gotta love Old 97's. 5. Big and Rich - "Deadwood Mountain" "And you can bury me on Deadwood Mountain/ By my brother Wild Bill, and sister Calamity Jane. Don't bring me no flowers, just a six-gun smokin'/ Put me eight feet down, when you bury me." That kinda sums up the western part of me pretty well, I think. Honorable mention goes to: Bob Schneider - "Bullets" "I got to freak, I gots da flow/ got to throw my ass overboard baby dontcha know." Just a feelgood funk song, that one is. Again, to see about changes
I am a Base-defender.
What's mine is mine, and I make sure everyone knows it. Nobody invades my space without permission - I'd destroy everything I own before letting someone take it from me. I tend to be forward-facing, which is both a strength and a weakness. What Video Game Character Are You?

Second choice:
I am an Asteroid.
I am a drifter. I go where life leads, which makes me usually a very calm and content sort of person. That or thoroughly apathetic. Usually I keep on doing whatever I'm doing, and it takes something special to make me change my mind. What Video Game Character Are You?
